bUT THE girl in the poster is wearing the same thing!
Big boobs, skimpy bikinis and tiny skirts sell really well in media, but if a girl walks outside with a little too much cleavage or leg showing it is completely taboo. Modern media has created the biggest set of double standards in society; whether women wear floor pant suits or miniskirts, they can never seem to win. Kids are constantly exposed to images of scantly dressed women with well endowed bodies since a young age, making it seem the norm in everyday life, but are told to cover up the second they try to imitate.
Beyond just the physical portrayals of women in media, there is also a serious problem in the way media portrays a women's persona. Cameron Diaz points out how the media portrays a sexist double standard for single women, more often than not placing the blame of any trouble in a relationship on the female. She points out that while bachelors are seen as a norm and even in a positive light in society, "media coverage — especially tabloid coverage — of single women consistently implies that they're somehow lacking, and undermines a woman's agency to choose to be single." These double standards and unattainable standards are ever-present in and are constantly promoted by media.
